Which movie review site do you trust the most?
Main Post:
The critical success of a movie is one of its defining aspects. When looking at reviews for a movie, which movie review site do you trust the most when looking for a movie?
For example, there's Rotten Tomatoes where the critic reviews and audience reviews are often contrasting. Most of the time its high critic reviews and low audience reviews or low critic reviews and high audience reviews. Or there's Amazon Prime. Most movies that are remotely uplifting, or evokes positives feelings in the watcher gets a high rating. The movie Finding Forrester, has lower movie reviews across most of the major movie review sites and it gets a 5 star rating. Meanwhile, there's Manchester by the Sea, which has better reviews on other sites and it gets a 3 star rating. Or do movie reviews matter much to you? Are you more influenced to watch a movie based on its premise or cast members?
For me, it's a combination of both movie reviews, the premise that I go out to watch a movie. If I see a director or actor I like, its a bonus. I use IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes , Letterboxd, and people's review on Reddit (lol) and take the reviews into account, but I don't set any expectations based on the reviews I see. I don't want my movie experience to be ruined.
Top Comment: I hardly ever read or listen to a review before seeing a movie. I think of them like discussions with friends. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we disagree, but I won't use it to guide my enjoyment of a movie or the choice to watch one.
Which sources do you trust when researching products?
Main Post:
Hello:
Just found this sub today. I tend to research products a lot before I pull the trigger and am excited to contribute to this community. One study put the percentage of fake reviews on Amazon at 34%. Additionally, many of the "Best ______ of 2022" articles are straight up bought and paid for by the products they recommend. it is getting harder to make informed decisions as a consumer.
My three most trusted reviewer websites are Wire Cutter by NY Times, PC Magazine, and Reddit. I look for look for places that explicitly claim to be unbiased and avoid articles that have the words "Paid Content," "Sponsored," or seem biased by offering too many suggestions from the same brand.
I'm sure this is super basic information for most people, but I was hoping to start a discussion about best practices when researching products. If there is something I could be doing better, I'd love to hear it. Or if anyone has some sort of guide, article or any other source, I'd love to read it. Thanks!

I mostly rely on Reddit and Youtube for reviews, but I'm sure there are other great resources. Please add a comment if I missed a good one.

They test a lot of models, and their reviews tend to be the most in-depth of all.
Which websites/apps are best for rating movies?
Main Post:
I have used Criticker for many years and I appreciate how accurate its predictions are based on my previous ratings.
I understand Letterboxd is one of the most popular movie review/rating sites out there, and that it has a strong community.
I recently learned about Trakt and have heard this is a must try as well.
I mostly want to track movies, and maybe TV shows. A top priority for me is that the website predicts movies that I will enjoy based on previous reviews.
What are some other pros and cons for these three options and what others should I be considering?
Top Comment: I don't think Letterboxd actually has a like "We think you will like these movies" feature, but it has undoubtedly been the best application for me to find new movies. Being able to browse lists, or seeing a cast/crew member's entire filmography, etc, has been super helpful. Letterboxd being extremely popular is also a great plus because you'll be able to see so much activity and will likely come across people irl who use it too.
Which is the most reliable smartphone reviewer ?
Main Post:
Coming from s23u and looking mainly for camera. Comparing Magic5Pro,Mi13U, Oppo Find X6 pro/x7 ultra and here I am! Super confused. Where can I find a genuine, authentic, reliable and unsponsored opinion? In my experience, for one person’s gem its a brick for other. In those ocean of reviewers, it is extremely hard to get a “real” and unbiased opinion. What do you all refer to ?
You have my gratitude and appreciation. Plz do your magic.
Top Comment: Fundamentally you can't escape opinions. All of the reviewers are giving opinions based on their biased perceptions. All you can do is hear out the different opinions and form your own. Look for objective info that relates to you. For example, if a few say connectivity/reception is weak on a particular device and you know service is poor where you live, that's info to take notice of, cuz your experience would suck if that phone has poor service all the time. Even with conflicting conclusions, views on particular features will overlap, and if the strengths of a phone match with your preferences you know you have a winner. If you can't be bothered with all that just pick a few to trust whether pro reviewers or friends and just go with their conclusions.
